It's official, the legendary space hero, Captain James T. Kirk blasted into space yesterday on Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin. In doing so, actor William Shatner, at age 90, became the oldest person to go into space!
Also on the ship which blasted off for it's short trip into orbit from Texas, was two paying customers in the new "space tourism" industry. Both are businessmen who paid a reported quarter of a million dollars for the flight...but come on, they get to go to space with Captain Kirk!
After touching back down and emerging from the capsule, Shatner told Bezos how amazing the experience was and said everyone in the world should get the same chance! USA Today quotes the actor, who said ""It was unbelievable. The little things – the weightless – but to see the blue color (of the sky) whip by you and now you're staring into blackness. … And then it's gone. It was so moving. This experience did something unbelievable."
