A Texas woman was charged with capital murder after allegedly killing her eight-year-old son. A relative found the young boy in his bed and believed he had been smothered by a pillow, so she called the police. The boy's mother, Tisha Sanchez, also called 911 saying that her son had died.
When police arrived, they found the boy unresponsive and he was pronounced dead. The relative told police that Sanchez claimed she killed the boy because "demons told her to sacrifice her son" and that "she needed to forgive her."
Sanchez was taken into custody and charged with capital murder. Sanchez had a previous run-in with law enforcement following an incident in May in which police were called because she was dragging her son through a store. She was charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a public servant and was taken to the hospital to receive mental health services.
Child Protective Services launched an investigation and found no cause to take custody of the child.
Authorities say they are continuing to investigate the death of the young boy.
