Ozzy Osbourne Says He Listens To His Albums "Regularly," Criticizes Them

56th GRAMMY Awards - Backstage And Audience

Despite that fact that he often looks forward to what he's going to do next, Ozzy Osbourne says he also listens to his own material often.

The Prince of Darkness explained that his records are like time capsules which bring him back to a certain place and time. He has triumphs and regrets on everything he's done.

He maintained he still doesn't have a favorite album of his own. Referring to his Beatles fanaticism, he explained, "I've said I haven't released what I consider my Sgt. Pepper. ... So when people say which is my favorite album, I go, 'I haven't made it yet.'"

Listening to his old material provides motivation, he said, to keep chasing his best work.

"I listen to them and I go, 'Oh, I remember where we were when we wrote that — it was good, bad, sad, glad!'" Ozzy told Billy Morrison in a recent conversation. "Every album I go, 'Why the f---k didn't I finish it?' You leave something forever, and I go, 'S--t.'"

Ozzy recently released his See You on the Other Side box set, containing all 16 of his solo albums to date.

One tune that still bothers him is "S.A.T.O." from the Diary of a Madman album. Every time he hears the song, Ozzy says he regrets not focusing more on it.

"I was in the studio, and Sharon [Osbourne] wanted to go somewhere and I went, 'That'll do!' And in the back of my mind, I knew I let something go," he recalled, then noting that many fans disagree with him. "But you know what? The amount of people that come up to me and go, 'Why don't you every play that live?' Only I know!"

Ozzy's rescheduled 'No More Tours 2' farewell is expected to resume next spring. For tour dates and tickets, go here.

His upcoming new album, Ordinary Man, arrives in January.
