Those Subscriptions Are Adding Up

So how much are those "cheap" subscriptions costing you a month? Twenty, thirty, maybe FORTY bucks a month? Think again. A new survey asked people what they thought they paid a month for different subscriptions including cell service. The average person estimated it costs about $80 a month.

This is where I start to think that the people who were surveyed are suffering from delusions. Cell service ALONE usually costs over a hundred bucks. And a lot more than that if you're paying for a family. But that's a story for a different time. Basically people THINK they are paying $80 a month, when in fact they are paying more like $237 a month!! Think about that! That's $237 a month on things you really don't need to exist. Your retirement planner would be ashamed.

But RJ, how can this be? well, think about it. How many times do you say to yourself, "Eh, it's only 4.99 a month for that add on subscription of Boomerang on Netflix, I can afford that." We say it all the time! and with one click purchasing options, it's easier than ever to make monthly impulse buys. So, if you add it all up, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon prime, cloud storage services like Dropbox, music streaming and the internet service required to get it all? That's how it gets to be over $200.

I don't know what you're gonna do with this information, if anything. I just thought you may want to know the latest stats. I personally might drop a few add ons from Netflix. But once you have something, it's hard to stop. Maybe it's best not to start kids. Might I also mention that Radio is FREE and so is our iHeartradio app. No this was not a sales pitch. I'm just saying. Radio might well be the only free thing there ever was or ever will be.
